In the early days of Doctor Doug's chewstick an artist friend developed a mascot for our dental practice, Woody, a beaver with two big teeth. He was always going to be the mascot for the chewstick. But I was 'convinced' from an old buddy to have a cartoon character of myself with Woody's two teeth.

To me Woody represents a determined focus that's in natural harmony with his surroundings.
We try to blend those values in dentistry as we continue a very rewarding career that hopefully never ends.

Hello and Good Health
Thanks for Visiting the
Doctor Doug's Chewstick Website!

From mankind's early beginnings twigs and sticks have been used to help clean the mouth. Particular chewsticks were chosen from the local area that provided the best mechanical stimulation and often offered a variety of pharmacological benefits.

Today's dental health market replaces much of our natural self care. New products have brought us farther from nature. Our life styles today have certainly changed from those pioneering days. Now we rush through our days with little time and awareness for health.

The chewstick is a healthy reminder of those no worry and no hurry days and the lost moments we let go by.

Today is the day for introducing Doctor Doug's Chewstick. Proven to be more effective for mouth care than a toothbrush (Journal of Oral Health Preventative Dentistry, 2003:1(4):301-7. A most valuable tool for curbing unhealthy oral habits. Helping vent emotions. Gives a chance to take a break from those wordy conversations. All in all, it makes a good friend and traveling buddy.

Woody
episode one

Woody is an aqua phobic, herbivorous beaver, allergic to fish and with no urge for swimming, diving or building dams. His teeth were the biggest around because he never chopped trees down. He doesn't use his tail much either, except to help keep dry during an occasional rain. He spends most of his time leaning back on his hind-end wondering, why all the dam building. What else is there?

One sunny day while sitting alone on a log near the water's edge, Woody noticed in his reflection a big blueberry stuck between his two front teeth, they were turning purple!! What to do?

This was to change his life...

He spotted a gum tree nearby and cut off a twig. Woody had found his own special purpose: a "Chewstick Entrepreneur." He began trading with all his furry friends and, before long, Woody even received several marriage proposals!

No Hurry, No Worry,
Woody
